THis is a proposed pavilion for a hilltop restaurant in cebu. An existing 60 sqm structure is spruced up to create a more modernist / elegant feel. I got inspiration from the barcelona pavilion of mies van der rohe. Overlapping planes create the roof and water feature wall . To create more porosity – wooden trellis was implemented in lieu of a solid plane

This is a study for a proposed town center in dumaguete for zscape development corp. Situated on a 3,000 sqm lot , this town center features a gross floor area of 2,800 sqm ideal for retail and office space.

A weekend home for a family of 3. The house employs some folding technique as clearly shown as a singular plane that envelopes the space. rectangular massing juxtaposes as well – the masters bedroom and the wall for one of the bedrooms.

house facade at beverly hills

We were approached by the owners during the construction of a 500 sqm house in beverly hills, cebu. He wanted to have a tropical modern house for a facade. GIven the existing conditions of the construction and the existing layout of the rooms, we had to make most of what we can do. The front facade of this house directly facing the west, the harshest rays of the sun. We employed overhangs to each room , recessed with balconies to enjoy a full floor to ceiling glass doors and windows. We also had to mitigate the heat and light with horizontal louvers. You can also see a bare concrete face to minimize to many windows.

This house employs 3 massings that is dictated by the levels of the plan. The first massing is the front where the line bedrooms flank. The second massing is the elevated living room due to the client’s request to create an entertainment room that should be a basement. The third massing is the element that binds all three massing – capped off with long cantilevered eaves.

This 4 bedroom house is an exercise of planar compositions, solids and planes perched above glass panels. It has a certain ” prarie house” feel due to the low pitched roof. The front most wall is white canvas juxtaposed with wooden slats and a horizontal window, while the other wall serves like a backdrop complementing the canvas.

the plan has a central circulation element with the stairs on the center that divides the social spaces , service spaces and the guest spaces.

This is a design proposal for UP south , a cebu based company, wanting to try the manila market. We used again the folding design model, using timber as a main material to connote the tropics of cebu. The folds hide the existing mezzanine of the rentable space. This feature consolidates to from a nook and a railing until turning into seating at the ground floor.

this is another proposal for kawit island. a modernist grill restaurant. To reflect the location nearby the sea, we wanted to place polycarbonate sheets inserted with colored sand in various shades.

this was an investigation for kawit island, an island off cebu city that was connected from the mainland through the south reclamation properties. We proposed an entertainment center from the existing structure that replicates a church now. Since the structure is already intact, we designed a folding model that makes the facade.
